Jack the Giant Slayer - Movie Review

Hello All!

This weekend I went to go see the new release Jack the Giant Slayer in theatres! This was a movie I was pretty excited for as I love fairytale adaptations!

I enjoyed this movie, however I didn't LOVE it. I found it lacking in some areas. For instance the story was a bit rushed and for a movie I thought would be very epic, it was kind of a dud. The battles were short and not very exciting and it just seemed like one minute there was a giant invasion, then it was over. I thought it would have been helpful if this movie had been a bit longer so they could have really put in a good battle scene. That being said, the movie was still cute and the acting I thought was great! I really love Nicholas Hoult who plays Jack and Ewan McGregor was as great as always! It is for sure worth a watch, but just don't expect it to be very epic!

You can check out the Trailer here: Jack the Giant Slayer

I would suggest you check it out for yourself :)

Have a wonderful day!

Hello All!

My 2013 reading goal is to read a total of 40 books. I figured this was a good number to start off with and perhaps in the years to come I will increase this until I get up to reading 100 books in one year. For me, 40 will be a big accomplishment. I love to read, thought I don't like to force myself to read and I wanted to keep the number at 40 so I know I will be reading for the enjoyment and not to hit a number :)

Here is the list of books I plan to read in 2013 (Books I have finished with be crossed out):

Walking Dead.. Season 1 and 2 - Thoughts and Reactions

Hello All!

I don't know about any of you... but recently I have become OBSESSED with the TV show Walking Dead. Now, let me just tell you, I watched the very first episode of this last year and I was scared to death. Why you ask? Because I am a BIG baby when it comes to scary things, even though I realize Zombies aren't a real threat to me (yet) that doesn't matter. I am still terrified. So, because I was so scared last year while watching it, I did not continue on with the series.

This past weekend my boyfriend bought season one on dvd and I decided I would man up and watch it with him. After getting past the first episode I realized the story was so good, I couldn't pass up continuing on. I then watched the second episode... then the third... then before I knew it, I had finished the first season in a day and a half. I was HOOKED.

This show has one of the best stories I have ever seen in a TV show. The zombies are different than what I have seen before, and they are just poppin up like daises! I feel so connected to the characters and then I absolutely hate others. I am still a big baby and wont watch the show unless my boyfriend is home, but I have now just finished the second season. It took me 2 days. I literally sit on the edge of my seat, jumping and yelling at people through the entire show. There have been so many good plot twists, while some I had predicted, others I hadn't seen coming at all. I swear I have been sitting at work for the past few days just thinking about this show, trying to process everything that has happened. Not to mention the zombie dreams.. FML.

Gotta love this popping into your head while trying to sleep.....

The second season has left me with such a cliffhanger that I cant even bare it. All I want to do right now is go online and start season 3, which I have heard blows the other seasons out of the water. I am not even sure how that is possible! My poor heart can't take it, this show stresses me out!

I would like to recommend this show to anyone and everyone... minus babies... they may not be so into it. I would also like to say that this is not even close to the typical kind of show that I like to watch. I am much more into comedies and sitcoms, with the exception of Dexter of course.... maybe I am just into really messed up graphic dramas... who knows!

I just needed to share my excitement for the Series! It has basically consumed my life and now I don't know what I will do once there are no more episodes to watch... I may have to re-watch the ASAP. Or if you have any show suggestions for me please let me know :)

Have a wonderful zombie free day!

Today's Look - March 13 2013 :)

Hello All!

I would like to share with you my look for the day! It is an easy makeup look for work with a nice pop of color on the lips. I am really happy that brighter lips are coming back into style. I know for sure this spring and summer I will be rockin some pretty eye catching lip colors. I just think they are so much fun and with the new Maybelline Vivid lipsticks out I feel like the possibilities are endless!

Here is my look today:

What I'm wearing:
Primer - Pixi Flawless and Poreless Primer
Foundation: Revlon Photoready in 004 Nude
Concealer: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment
Eye Primer: Revlon Photoready Eye Primer and Brightener
Eye Shadows: Wet n Wild EyeshadowTrio in Silent Treatment
Eye Liner: Micabeauty Gel Liner & Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow in Pixie
Mascara: Covergirl Clump Crusher & Maybelline The Rocket
Bronzer: Wet n Wild Bronzer in Bikini Contest
Blush: NARS in Super Orgasm
Lips: Revlon Balm Stain in Smitten & Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie

I am starting to incorporate more spring colors into my everyday makeup routine, rather than the plain neutrals I typically stick with in the winter months. I feel like spring is the perfect time to break out those purples, pinks, green, etc. My eye shadows are neutral, taupe like purples with a hint of light pink, and my lips are berry! I have a pinky, coraly blush with gold specs to warm up the face.

I hope you are all trying out some new fun looks for the upcoming Spring season :)

Have a wonderful day!

Youtuber of the week - Bookables!

Hello All!

My choice for youtuber of the week is going to a Booktuber this week! I have been really digging Bookables for a few months now. She gives great reviews and suggestions and I just find her relatable and easy to watch! I have trouble watching many of the booktubers because I find so many of them to mumble and rush and I just cant seem to relate to them. That is for sure not the case with Bookables, I feel like she is just one of my friends as I am watching her videos! I also trust her opinions and buy pretty much every book she talks about! She reads and reviews mainly YA books, which of course if my preference for reading!

Here are a few of my favourite videos from Bookables:

Most Anticipated YA Books of 2013 - This one is giving me so many good ideas!

Best Books of 2012!

I love her Wrap up and TBR videos!

She also does book reviews, hauls, tag videos, and more :)

If you like what you see and are interested in reading, please subscribe to her channel: Bookables

I also follow her on goodreads :) :Bookables Goodreads

Book Haul #1!

Hello All!

I went slightly book crazy over the past few weeks! I bought I think about 14 books... on a brighter note, I did not have to pay full price for ANY of these books! This makes my heart smile big! Like This --> :D I am a firm believe in the phrase, you can never have too many books! Especially if those books are cheap!

Next I will list all the books I got in the last month, their authors and a link to the books descriptions (Link will be found in the book's title)! In case you may be wondering what they are all about! We all know, you can't judge a book by its cover... however that is sometimes why I will buy a book! Pretty covers, they get me EVERY time!

The descriptions link will take you to the books page on Chapters if you are interested in purchasing them online. If you are not currently a member with the plum rewards for Chapters Indigo, you should be! You get discounts as well as points which you can save up to redeem for free books! Also if you purchase your books online at chapters.indigo.ca, books are cheaper than in store! I am not sure why they have it like this, but I'm not complaining about cheaper books! Shipping is free with a purchase over $25 or you can get your books shipped to a chapters store near you for free! If you aren't a plum rewards member yet, you should be! You get discounts on your purchases as well as points that you can save up to redeem for free books! One of Those Days!

Hello Everyone!

Ever have on of those days where everything seems to be going wrong! Maybe you didn't get enough sleep last night, maybe you trip and landed on your face getting out of bed, maybe you were out of nutella this morning..... THE WORST! For whatever reason you are having one of those days, I feel for ya!

The majority of my "bad" days start off with me not having enough sleep, and that is only my own fault because I stay up to all hours of the night watching youtube videos of people doing their makeup and funny cats! You can't blame me though, once you find one awesome video on youtube its like a black hole that just sucks you in to more and more videos! I wish my job was just watching youtube videos, then I would get so much work done! Another reason I often don't get enough sleep at night is because I continuously drink coffee late at night. As if I could learn my lesson after one caffeine overdose and bouncing off the walls until 2am, I do this ALL THE TIME. I never learn. I just love coffee, I enjoy the way it tastes and it's winter and I just want to feel warm on the inside out!

Then there are those days when you crawl out of bed and everything seems to be honky dorey, then it happens.... you drop your toast on your pants... damn my clumsiness and damn peanut butter for always landing peanut butter side down! Then you have to go through the troubles of changing those pants... which usually leads to changing your shirt as well! Such a process, not a recipe for a wonderful day!

I could go on and on about things that could go wrong in the morning to make you start off having a bad day... traffic, over load of emails from work, rude people, etc etc... but then I like to remember that no matter what "bad" things are happening, it could always be worse! At least I have a bed and a computer to watch youtube videos on... at least I have a coffee machine and food, at least I have clothes to change in and out of! I guess what I am saying is, don't sweat the small stuff... and in the end, pretty much everything is small stuff! If you get mad or upset at something that happens, take a moment to really feel that emotion, then move on! No need to dwell on the things that don't matter!

If all else fails... looks at these pictures, and your day will go from grey to sparkly in seconds!

So don't be a grumpy pants...

Just smile :)

Disclaimer... I swear I am not a crazy cat lady!

Have a WONDERFUL day :)

xoxo

Youtuber of the week! Shaaanxo

Hello All!

The winner this week for Youtuber of the week must go to Shaaanxo! Shaaanxo is a beauty guru on youtube and puts out some of my favourite beauty videos! She is from New Zealand and I just love her accent! I also find her to be relatable and just fun to watch! She also gives a lot of great suggestions on both high end products and drugstore brands, which is great if you are like me and are on a budget ;) I find my self on her channel for hours just watching her chit chat videos and makeup tutorials! She really makes you feel like you are right there with her, hanging out! Maybe it's the accent that I love or maybe she is just plain awesome! I think one thing I like about her is that she doesn't try to sensor herself and she doesn't try to act perfect, which I find many of the beauty gurus do on youtube.

Here are my favourite videos from Shaaanxo:

Her chit chat videos are my favourite!!

Her favourites videos give me so many great ideas!

She does such a good variety of tutorials as well!

Check out her channel here--> Shaaanxo and subscribe if you like what you see :)

She also has a vlog channel which I watch regularly. Her vlog channel consists of a lot of Q&A's and life updates, things like that!

You can find her vlog channel here -->Shaaanxovlogs :)

Have a wonderful day :)

My Complete Book List

Hello All!

So I have been just a little book crazy lately and have been buying so many it's been hard to keep track! My boyfriend and I organized all of our books today and I thought it would be a good time to make a lop of all the ones I have! Which will hopefully help when I go to buy more so I don't accidentally buy the same book, which would be something I would do!

I think I am going to start reviewing the books I read in video form! I do find it easier to talk than to write and I am sure I will have lots to say about my books :) Stay tuned for the review!

For anyone who is interested in seeing my book list.. not including the ones I have at my apartment that belong to Jeff.. here it is!

PS: The bold titles are the ones that I have already read :)

.... I wonder how many people will make it through the whole list... haha

Have a wonderful evening!!
